Seniors Week 2017

30 August 2017

We celebrated Seniors Week last week to acknowledge the valuable contribution Queensland’s older people make to our communities. We hosted a range of activities for our clients to enjoy across a number of our locations.

Lake Sherrin

On Wednesday, our care recipients at Lake Sherrin participated in a ballroom dancing session hosted by our lovely dancers, Cheryl and Brian. They waltzed us down memory lane to some great old-time songs and encouraged everyone to get involved. We had some great dancers in the group!

Inala Place

On Wednesday there was also dancing at the special event held at Inala Place Respite Centre. The conga line was swiftly followed by a BBQ lunch and accompanied with a market where there were loads of delicious treats and bargains to be had!

Sherwood Place

On Thursday Sherwood Place Day Respite Centre was converted into a baby animal farm. Our guests chose to keep their distance or get up close and personal with the cutest lambs, goats, chicks and pigs. They were certainly a hit amongst the staff too!

Kookaburra Queen

On Friday, the week came to a close with a 2-hour lunch and cruise on the Kookaburra Queen with guests from our Day Therapy Centre and Sherwood Place Day Respite Centre. This event was sponsored by COTA as part of their work to recognise the valuable contribution seniors make to our society and we thank them for their support.

At PresCare, we offer stimulating programs of activity across all of our care settings throughout the year. We embrace Seniors Week as an important time to put the spotlight on the value and experience our older people bring to our society. Here’s to another great celebration next year!
