News: Scott Draper to get back on the green for charity golf day

Former professional golfer and tennis player Scott Draper has jumped on board to host PresCare and Woollam Constructions annual Charity Golf Classic, raising money to prevent social isolation in Brisbane’s seniors.

Draper has recently added novelist to his extensive list of titles, alongside father, coach and of course, tennis player and golfer, making him a fitting choice to MC the event.

Aged care provider PresCare, with the support of Woollam Constructions, will hold the prized tenth annual PresCare Woollam Constructions Charity Golf Classic in Brisbane on Wednesday 23 September to raise funds for PresCare initiatives to reduce social isolation in our aging population and the broader community.

Over 50,000 Brisbane seniors are among an increasing number of Australians at risk of depression and early death due to social isolation, identified as one of the most serious mental and physical health risks facing the nation.

PresCare Chief Executive Officer Greg Skelton noted that reducing the prevalence and effects of social isolation is at the core of PresCare’s social mission to encourage clients to stay more connected.

“One in four older Australians currently experience the effects of social isolation, making this issue our key focus,” says Mr Skelton.

“We are very pleased to have Scott Draper as our MC this year and believe he will help raise interest around the event and ultimately awareness and funds for the issue of social isolation.”

PresCare has initiated a number of projects to help keep the people more connected and involved in their community.

Mr Skelton says the highly anticipated Charity Golf Classic is set to raise $50,000 that will go directly towards these initiatives, in particular a community bus which is to be available to local community groups to keep people active and socially connected.
