News: PresCare named finalist in Brisbane Lord Mayor’s Business Awards
Queensland Aged Care provider PresCare has been named a finalist in the Brisbane Lord Mayor’s Business Awards for its work keeping seniors more connected.
In the past 12 months PresCare has significantly grown its community care services, with new programs to keep seniors in their homes for longer with a better quality of life.
PresCare is a finalist in the Port of Brisbane Award for New Investment, for its growth of home-based services and transition to Consumer Directed Care.
PresCare Chief Executive Officer Greg Skelton said the Federal Government’s transition to Consumer Directed Care in July had driven a new focus on home and community-based care.
“There is a growing population of older Australians and they want to be able to stay in their own homes for as long as possible, while still staying connected to their families and communities,” Mr Skelton said.
“With the consumer directed care changes, our clients can now choose from a much wider range of services, rather than have those services decided for them.
“We have brought on more allied health professionals at our day therapy centre at Coopers Plains and invested in businesses such as Walk on Wheels, which provides mobility aids, and Contented Chef, which provides healthy cooked meals for our aged care facilities and for our community clients.
“With the new range of choice available to older Australians under Consumer Directed Care it is important that seniors are able to access a complete range of services from one provider.
“They also need to be confident that those services are backed by an organisation like PresCare, which has operated in Queensland for 85 years.”
The Lord Mayor’s Business Awards will be announced on October 30.
