Meet Rose-Marie – Artist of ‘Japanese Botanical Gardens at Mt Coot-tha’
Meet Rose-Marie, the artist of this serene painting of the Japanese Botanical Gardens at Mt Coot-tha.
She was inspired to paint this environment after a visit to the gardens with her art group. The lighting illustrated in the painting is a result of many photos being taken of the area at different times of the day to capture different lighting. After many hours and months painting at home, Rose-Marie finished this artwork in 2012.
Rose-Marie’s painting is also featured in Prescare’s 2018 Calendar.
Rose-Marie is a fun loving 85-year-old woman who has a long-standing passion for painting. Her lengthy and varied career in the Arts began when she studied Art at the prestigious Julian Ashton School in Sydney, and in pursuing her love of art and drama, Rose-Marie also lived overseas in England and Montreal. She later returned to Brisbane when she entered her artwork in the Royal Exhibition.
In 2013, Rose-Marie sadly broke her hip and found that she was unable to paint as often as she’d like. However, she is hopeful that she will be able to return to her passion.
Rose-Marie has been attending PresCare Day Therapy Centre in Coopers Plains since 2014 and brings much joy and laughter to the Centre, especially during her much loved Wednesday Exercise Group.
