The changing needs of Australia’s older generation have been recognised in an historic new partnership between Queensland-based GemLife, their sister company Living Gems, and PresCare that provides a one-stop shop for residents.

GemLife and Living Gems, provide premium living in gated lifestyle resorts, and have teamed up  with the PresCare Group, which has almost 90 years’ experience in aged care.

The partnership, which is believed to be the first of its kind in the aged care sector, means GemLife and Living Gems’ retirement-living residents can access PresCare’s suite of government-funded home care services which include:

  • Rehabilitation and physical therapy (physiotherapy, podiatry, speech pathology)
  • Respite care (day and overnight)
  • Home and garden maintenance
  • Transport to appointments and social events
  • Accompanied and assisted shopping or bill paying
  • In-home nursing

PresCare Group CEO Greg Skelton said that the strategic partnership with GemLife would also enable residents to access related products and services through PresCare’s commercial arm including an extensive range of mobility and everyday living aids to nutritionally-balanced home-style meals delivered to their door.

“The baby boomer generation has different needs and expectations to their parents when it comes to living well in later years,” Mr Skelton said.

“PresCare is committed to meeting these needs through our comprehensive one-stop-shop for services that are designed to support older people to continue to live well into their later years.

“People want to maintain their independence by continuing to live in their own home for as long as possible and living life the way they choose – with the same amount of control and independence that they have always had.”

GemLife Director and CEO Adrian Puljich said the Queensland-based family business focused on actively promoting an ageing-in-place strategy that was well-received by its residents.

“We want to keep our residents in their homes for longer, without having to worry about the next stage of care,” Mr Puljich said.

“This exclusive partnership with PresCare helps our residents to receive peace of mind about the future.”

PresCare is a Ministry of the Presbyterian Church of Queensland and is one of Queensland’s largest aged care providers. GemLife is responsible for creating and managing several master-planned, gated lifestyle resorts in Queensland and NSW.

Eligibility for government-funded home care services is income assessed and the PresCare team will help residents to navigate the process through the Government’s My Aged Care system.
