Celebrating International Nurses Day 2018

11 May 2018

In celebration of International Nurses Day on 12 May 2018, we’d like to recognise the dedication and incredible contribution made by nurses all around the world to the well-being and health of others.

And in honouring all of our wonderful PresCare nurses, we’d like to share the story of Amanda Gilmore, a registered nurse at PresCare for 5 years.

Amanda became a nurse 28 years ago because she was fascinated by the human body and how it works. But her favourite part about being a RN is having the opportunity meet so many different people and help them in their time of need.

When asked about nursing in aged care, Amanda said: “The important thing to remember is that aging itself is a natural process and not a disease. Just because someone is developing disabilities, doesn’t mean that this is who they have become. Nurses are not here to make clients feel like they are in a hospital. Nurses have to help clients find a balance between optimising their health and living their lives to the fullest. This can be a challenge but it’s also incredibly rewarding”.
