Welcoming communities designed to feel like home

PresCare has been an integral part of the Maryborough community for almost four decades. Our two aged care communities, Yaralla Place and Groundwater Lodge, are managed with a fresh, regional focus that includes exciting upgrades and an award-winning staff culture program. With these improvements, residents are now enjoying an even better place to call home.

Feeling at home is important to everyone’s wellbeing. That’s why we support each resident to maintain their interests, familiar routines and connections to the people and places they love. It’s also why our communities are divided into smaller households with Carers who feel like trusted friends and outdoor spaces that provide the simple pleasures of a backyard.

Live your way, with dignity

Make yourself at home

To offer a more personal living experience, Yaralla Place and Groundwater Lodge are divided into smaller households where residents share a kitchenette, lounge and dining room. Your light-filled room can be furnished and decorated as you like, and we respect that this is your private sanctuary, just like a master bedroom. With no set visiting hours, you can welcome family and friends to your home anytime.

Carers who get to know you well

We centre on you as a person, getting to know your story, your likes and your routine. Our dedicated Carers and Nurses are selected for their kind and compassionate approach to care that’s focused on providing you with a dignified care experience. Respecting your independence and choice, they are on-hand 24 hours a day supporting you with the tailored care you need to live your way.

Design your own day

Just like at home, you decide how you’d like to spend your day. When you rise, eat and shower is up to you, and you’re supported to keep doing the simple things you’ve always enjoyed, like watering the garden, catching up on the daily news with a cup of tea, or just having an afternoon nap. There are a range of activities to enjoy with others, and lots of ways to stay connected to those you love.

A flexible approach to country-style meals

When it comes to food, there’s plenty of choice – just like home. Our seasonal, dietician-approved menus offer variety and family favourites, and there’s always freshly baked morning and afternoon tea. You can choose when and where you eat your meals, and help yourself to a snack or drink in your household’s stocked kitchenette. Keen cooks can continue to be involved in culinary activities, like making soup and baking bread.

Enjoy the simple pleasures of a traditional backyard

The sprawling, one-level design of both communities means there’s greenery and natural light everywhere you look, and an established garden that’s full of the familiar features of a traditional backyard, like flower beds and veggie patches. You can tend to your own plants, or just sit in a sunny spot and admire what’s growing. At Groundwater Lodge, each room opens onto a private patio with space for seating and pot plants.

Supporting families with short-term care

Yaralla Place and Groundwater Lodge offer short-term respite care in our private rooms. This can provide much needed support for families caring for their loved one at home, especially at holiday times or when they are recovering from an illness or injury and require additional care. Many of our respite guests enjoy their stay so much, they decided to become a permanent resident.

A foundation of Christian values

Yaralla Place and Groundwater Lodge were built on a foundation of compassion, grace and inclusivity. Both communities continue to enjoy close ties with the local Presbyterian church as well as other local churches of different Christian denominations. All residents are welcome to attend on-site services, and receive pastoral support from the Maryborough Christian community.

Choose from a central or acreage community

Yaralla Place is located in the heart of Maryborough, in the beautiful Fraser Coast region. Close to everything this heritage town has to offer, and adjacent to the Maryborough Hospital, Yaralla is central and convenient. Groundwater Lodge is situated in the Granville suburb of Maryborough. Set on leafy acreage that was formally farmland, Groundwater has a relaxed and tranquil homestead feel.

“I love everything about living at Groundwater Lodge. I’m so well looked after and the Carers here are wonderful. Having all my paintings, pictures and special belongings in my own room makes it feel so homely.”
Lillian, Resident in Ibis House
“I visit my Mum at Yaralla almost every day. I love that I’m welcome any time so the visits can fit around my work schedule. We spend lots of time together tending the little garden we’ve planted and it brings both of us much joy.”
Cheryl, daughter of Resident
“Feeling at home is about feeling you belong. Here in Maryborough, we’re lucky to have two unique communities that offer different living experiences but are linked by an exceptional care philosophy and a focus on kindness and compassion.”
Judy Fisher, Residential Services Manager, Yaralla Place & Groundwater Lodge
"At both of our Maryborough communities, residents are supported to keep enjoying their familiar activities, past times and routines. We're always on hand to make sure they're safe and comfortable so that they feel right at home."
Rozina Hegarty, Clinical Manager, Yaralla Place & Groundwater Lodge
